Compromise

Compromise

It begins as a thought… followed by an action – compromise. The lure of it is gradual. You start out compromising in one small area, thinking no one will ever know, no one will ever find out, and if there are no consequences we lure ourselves into a false sense of peace.

We become deceived into thinking that it’s okay. Each time the voice of compromise arises and you obey, its grip on you gets tighter and tighter causing you to go further and further into the Pit. Each time the thought of compromising arises a still, small voice tells you not to go, not to do, but like a drug you are overcome with desire to experience the good feelings you get from dancing with compromise.

You push aside the voice of Wisdom because you have to have your fix. Again, because you have not experienced any consequences and the payoff from compromise feels so good, you don’t heed the voice trying to keep you from destruction.

Another voice tells you all is well; it’ll be okay and before you know it compromise has infiltrated every area of your life. The person you used to be, the person of character and integrity is gone cocooned in the web of compromise. Eventually, you are exposed because the voice that lead you into a false sense of security, that caused you to turn a deaf ear to Wisdom, that voice has caused you to become reckless in your desire to fulfill the drug of compromise and has led to the unthinkable.

EVERYONE knows what you have been doing; your deeds are no longer hidden. YOU ARE EXPOSED. The good feeling is replaced with shame, humiliation and pain.

You are all alone or so you think, but, one day, in the midst of this, that still, small voice is heard once again. This voice, the voice of Wisdom calls you to come, come and be healed, tells you that you are loved more than you’ll ever know and in your shame, in your pain you heed this voice knowing this is truly what you need.
